BabyPaka. Episode 5: Eli and a Day Full of Little Worries

In the previous episode, Riko discovered that courage can be a small step taken together. On the back of the note they had found, Eli noticed drops, crumbs, a heart, and a bowl. It looked like an invitation to an adventure full of little acts of care.

Traces by the Shelf

Eli was the first to notice the thin trail of crumbs. She didn’t move right away. She checked that everyone’s paws were clean and that the box of things they’d found was closed. Zibi wanted to count the crumbs, Momo suggested a hopping contest between them, and Guga drew a simple map. Riko made sure the trail didn’t lead under any heavy boxes. Hugo brought a small, soft towel.

Behind the shelf, they found a wooden bowl tipped on its side. A little plush bird with a crumpled wing was sitting beside it. It didn’t look scared, just tired. Eli sat a little way away and quietly asked, “Do you need help, or would you like a quiet moment first?” The little bird blinked and pointed its beak at the scattered seeds.

Care Starts With a Question

Momo was about to quickly pick everything up, but Eli reminded him that helping doesn’t mean taking over the whole situation. Zibi asked the little bird which seeds were its. Guga set out two little spots: one for clean things and another for things that needed to be put aside. Riko picked up the bowl, and Hugo spread out a small towel to make a peaceful little corner.

The little bird showed them that its wing wasn’t broken - a thin ribbon had got tangled around it. Eli didn’t pull it hard. She asked Riko to hold the end and Zibi to find where the ribbon had formed a loop. Momo told a quiet joke to help the time pass gently. After a moment, the ribbon slipped free without any tugging.

Eli wiped the little bowl with a clean cloth and poured in a little water they had brought in a sealed cup. She didn’t promise that everything would be perfect right away. She only said, “We did what we could, calmly and together.” The little bird took a drink, shook out its fur, and straightened its wing.

A Day of Little Acts of Care

On the way back, Eli noticed one more loose bow by the box, a lost tissue, and a tired Hugo. She didn’t try to do everything at once. Guga tied the bow, Riko picked up the tissue, and Hugo got a moment of quiet. When friends shared the caring, it felt lighter, and no one was left out.

At the bottom of the bowl lay another clue: a paper snowflake with a little star in the middle. Momo was delighted that it looked like a decoration. Zibi spotted three dots and a spiral on the back. Guga tucked the snowflake into a dry pocket in the box. Eli asked everyone to eat their own snack and wash their paws first. It’s easier to keep the adventure going when you take care of yourself, too.

Comic Panels

  • Panel 1: Eli spots an overturned bowl. “Let’s ask first.”
  • Panel 2: Paka untangles the ribbon. “Slowly, without tugging.”
  • Panel 3: The bird drinks water. “A little care matters.”

Next Time

The paper petal smelled of cinnamon and paint, and Momo could already imagine the start of a big holiday adventure. But before his idea factory gets going, Paka has to decode the spiral. Six different personalities, one Paka.

Evening Recap

That evening, Eli wrote three sentences in her notebook: ask before you help; do one thing at a time; remember to rest yourself. Zibi added a fourth: make sure you understand the problem. Momo drew a smiling bowl next to them. Riko put away the ribbon, Guga tidied up the crumbs, and Hugo turned off the lamp. The bird stayed in the quiet corner until it felt ready to continue its journey.

Eli’s Little Rule

Before everyone fell asleep, Eli asked each of them to share one small concern from the day. Zibi mentioned checking the loop, Guga talked about sorting clean and dirty things, Riko brought up a safe route, Momo mentioned a gentle joke, and Hugo talked about a place to rest. Eli smiled. “See? Caring isn’t one person’s job. Everyone can contribute a small gesture.”

On the windowsill, the plush bird fluttered one wing and left them a single teardrop-shaped seed. Guga tucked it away beside the paper petal. It was meant to be a reminder that helping begins with noticing, but only ends when the other person can do things their own way again.

“Tomorrow, we’ll start by resting,” said Eli. No one protested, because even the most exciting adventure needs a peaceful beginning.
